This one has been a mix of shock and boredom. Firstly there was another promotion, sadly not me. I'm starting to doubt I will get one.
And then yet another games night playing pool, ping pong etc. It seems their running out of ideas for things to do. On a brighter side our cancelled camp has been rescheduled for the 20th of this month.
Now going back a while. A news line you published on the GMS face book page reminded me of this, it was the story about the lady raising money for an armed forces charity and being shouted abuse at etc.
After an RAF remembrance parade on 11th July we went about collecting for the RAF association. A teen about 19ish came up to me and my partner I was collecting with and tried to donate half a cork. Since I was uniformed I had to restrain my reactions to just telling him what I thought if him, then he told me not to get rude! What is the public turning into?
Wednesday 4th August 2010 -
Tonight we did a navigation exercise around the marsh's in Trimley. We were given a grid reference and then a bearing and number of paces to take and we would find a package with a code word and a section of a co-ordinate in it. We would have to write down the co-ordinate and radio the code word back to the "pronto". It was a good night. It really showed certain cadets' skills and enthusiasm, others laziness and the newbees ability to constantly mess about. LOL
Monday 13th June 2010 - Yet again more practice for the drill contest, we definitely are getting better though, we test each other in drill games of “Simon says”, and I won 4 in a row, really pleased with myself as it makes me stand out.
Sunday 12th June 2010 - was the long awaited Air Traing Corps wing football competition, our squadron played brilliantly, being just one point away from making it through to the finals. Our PLT Officer and CI was most pleased with the fact that we managed to beat Woodbridge squadron 2-0. I managed to take down Woodbridge’s FTL SGT in his attempt on goal and I also cleared one off the line.

We got Monday off and Wendsday wasn't much of a decent training night, we practised putting up a 12 x 8 ft tent. We were told next week that we will be practising cooking ration packs. Most of us know how to do this, so this is more for the newbies, but it sort of confirms our suspicions about a camp coming up. I can't wait!

We've now been practising our drill for the contest so much I'm actually starting to enjoy it, it looks good and we've pretty much mastered the first 25 or so commands. I think it's starting to pay off, the officers were dropping hints that there may be an camp in the near future, means I should have something pretty good to blog about soon.
Monday 24th May 2010
On Monday we got a break from drill to play a bit of football to try and work out who will be in the ATC squadron football team for yet another competition.

We found our "new" radios today, it turns out that they are only new to the squadron, they may of been new about 15 years ago. Sadly we didn't get to play with them, the FLT SGT wanted us to brush up on our drill for the upcoming contest which was fair enough, and we all want to show up the Ipswich ATC squadron. Thankfully a few of us got out of the drill for a first aid assessment which constituted of CPR on little Annie, putting someone in a recovery position and bandaging someone up. The fake screams of one of the casualties scared a cadet so much he refused to be assessed. The majority of the cadets passed, so we are all going to be getting a fancy little bright red badge for our brassard, more sewing, great!.
